Pre-Christmas Adventures

Miri met her grandpa (Grumps) last week, and it was definitely love at first sight. I was up with her one morning, and when Grumps came in she gave him a huge grin. I haven't even gotten one of those yet. Miriam has definitely begun showing more facial expressions and cooing more deliberately (or grunting out of frustration).

We also took her to our wine and cheese party last week. We had wines and cheeses from Southern France, all of which were a hit. It was an awesome party until Erin slammed her finger in the door. We thankfully have great friends, though, and people helped with Erin, cleaning, getting the right cars in the right place, and everything else. What could have been a pretty crappy night ended up with low stress (and a non-broken finger). On that note, if anyone has any pictures of Miri from the party, please send them along, we were going to take a picture together, but got a bit distracted.

I was cleaning up all the wine bottles and folks thought that this would be a classy picture. I was happy to oblige.

Busy First 2 Weeks

by | | 0 comments

Miriam is progressing well these days. She is over her birth weight now, and eating well. She sleeps very well (usually wakes up two times at night to eat, but sleeps the rest of the time). Mom is in great form and recovering well from the surgery.

Nana and Pawpaw (sp?) came for the first week and met their new granddaughter.

The next week, Yaya visited.

Miriam had a number of firsts these past two weeks: first bath, first trip to church, first meal at a friends' home, first party (pictures later), and first gator game (TV). I guess in this family you have to be ready to go!

Miriam Ashley Heinen
Born 4:20 pm, November 18, 2009
7 lbs, 12 oz, 19 inches long

Mommy had to have a c-section, but is recovering well. Miriam is healthy, very alert, and absolutely perfect.

Many, many more pictures to come, but I need to get back to the hospital!

Ready, Set, . . .

Miri should be here any day, now. Erin looks about ready to pop (pictures later this evening), and her room is ready to go. We have also assembled the cradle in our room and have car seats buckled and ready.

Getting Ready

We are going to try having the room ready by this weekend. I'm building some shelves to get my stuff out of the way, we put the bedding on the crib, and we'll hang lots of wall stuff later.

Gifts and a trip

Erin's shower was last weekend, and we got so many awesome presents. Miriam's bath, room, and clothing needs are now 'met.' By met, I of course mean that she has more stuff than Mom and Dad combined. I've almost boxed up or cleared enough books out of the apartment to make room for her toys/books.

It's difficult to single out any specific presents, but these two outfits were especially cute. Once we finish getting her room in order, we'll post more (and better) pictures. The butterfly lights are going to be awesome.

Erin and I went on our last vacation as non-parents this weekend. We stayed at Amelia Island Plantation and had a wonderful time on the beach, eating wonderful meals, and watching this amazing sunrise.

Also, leave a comment to sign up for Miri's birth pool (look at the calendar on the right to see what times are taken).

Getting Closer

Erin is due next month. Thanks to friends and family, we have so many things that there's barely room. Speaking of, Erin's tummy is starting to run out of room as well.

I found this shirt and thought Erin really needed it. It's been a big hit at her work and the restaurant we went to Friday.

Here I am trying to put Miri's stroller together. I'm sure I'll have many more "Some Assembly Required" jobs for her.

Leave a comment guessing the day and time of Miri's birth. Our due date is November 23rd. I will add your guess to the calendar. First come, first serve.

Getting Ready for the Baby

DSC_3956 We have Miri's crib assembled thanks to Steve and Shannon. My guess is that she will have more clothes than me by 1 month before she is born. For more pictures, visit www.flickr.com/dheinen

This is DSC_3953 Erin at 24 weeks.

We can feel the baby kick, which is one of the most exciting events to date (for me, anyway)
