Miri is almost 10 months old now and getting even more personality. I watch another little girl (Reagan, below) three days a week and they are so cute together. When that morning knock comes to the door, Miri starts smiling and cooing excitedly. As soon as Reagan comes in, she starts laughing and clapping, it is so cute! Reagan likes her a lot too; the other day, when Miri was waking up from her afternoon nap, Reagan heard her making some noises in her crib. She got really excited and ran to the hallway, pointing and looking and me and making questioning sound, as if to say, "She's awake! Aren't we going to go get her?!?) They love to play together and share very well. In fact, I have to keep an eye on them or else they will share their sippy cups! Reagan is about 5 months older than Miri.
I also watch a little boy one day a week named Issac, though everyone calls him Ike. He is a sweet boy and Miri enjoys hanging out with him also. He crawls everywhere and I have to watch him sometimes when he gets going, he is about 23 lb (even though he is a month younger than Miri) and can knock Miri (15 1/2 lb) over when they are playing if he isn't careful. Miri, of course, takes this as highly offensive. Fortunately, she's pretty easy to calm down.
Miri is finally getting some hair! still not enough for a barrette, but at least the velcro barrettes stay in now. She often has a curly mohawk as seen above and below. I really do try to brush it, but nothing seems to help. It's pretty cute even so, and I'm delighted with the thought that she is going to have curly hair. It looks like it is going to be dark blond and sometimes I catch a hint of red in there also; cute!
I couldn't resist taking the picture below. She is sleeping off a fun day at church and pulled her lovey over her head after I took this picture. I think we have a hard to wake up kid in our future. I love the chunk on those little thighs! She is still very small for her size (height 40ith percentile and weight 3rd percentile) but she sure looks healthy to me. Especially since she generally enjoys eating, especially if she gets to feed herself. She is a cheese eating machine and can put away a good sized pile of shredded cheese after a full meal (though it takes her forever too pick it all up one little piece at a time). She also loves to eat these corn puff things we found. I'm so happy to have found an alternative the the traditional puffs, which contain rice flour and soy and caused an impressive amount of vomiting. I have decided I don't even care which thing is the allergen, we aren't going to eat either until she is old enough to throw up in the toilet, and maybe not even then.
She still doesn't crawl, but she will scoot on her bottom if there is something she really wants. She also loves to stand (supported) the last week or two and walk with help. I think she will be walking before her 1st birthday. I guess we better finish child proofing!
